Four additional middle and high school students were involved in an automobile accident Friday night that claimed the life of a 14-year-old middle school student. The collision occurred on Canaan Center Road close to E. Sterling Road in Canaan Township shortly before 4:15 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. According to OSHP, a 17-year-old lost control of their vehicle and veered over the side of the road while traveling north. According to OSHP, the vehicle struck two landscape islands and a ditch before repeatedly toppling over.
The catastrophe claimed the life of Creston resident Aurora Krahenbuhl, 14. With minor injuries, the driver, a 13-year-old, and a 14-year-old were all sent to the hospital. According to OSHP, a passenger who was 15 years old was also transported to the hospital with severe injuries. On Friday night, Superintendent Kevin Leatherman issued the following statement.
All five of the crash’s casualties, according to Superintendent Leatherman, were middle and high school students from Norwayne Local Schools. Because of the incident, Superintendent Leatherman decided to call off Friday night’s high school homecoming football game.
