*Scarborough Highway 401 Crash Sends 3 to Hospital, 1 with Critical Injuries*

A devastating multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Scarborough has left three people hospitalized, with one in critical condition. The accident occurred early Sunday morning when a car carrying three men collided with a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) pickup truck that was parked in the right westbound lane approaching Morningside ¹.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the MTO had parked a blocker truck and a pickup truck in two of the three westbound lanes to protect the scene of a prior collision. The driver of the MTO blocker truck parked in the lane beside it was uninjured, but the three men in the car that collided with the pickup truck were taken to hospital ¹.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but authorities are urging anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to come forward. The westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 were closed at Meadowvale, but reopened around 10 a.m. ¹.

This incident highlights the importance of exercising caution when approaching emergency scenes or roadwork areas. The Ontario Provincial Police remind drivers to “pay attention when you see flashing lights” to prevent such accidents ².

As the investigation continues, our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We hope for a speedy recovery for those injured and a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.
