R. Kelly Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Sex Crimes

 

R. Kelly the renowned R&B singer has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his conviction on nine counts of racketeering and sex trafficking. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Ann M. Donnelly on June 29, 2022 ¹.

 

Kelly’s crimes spanned over three decades, during which he used his fame and influence to exploit and abuse numerous women and minors. The prosecution presented evidence of Kelly’s racketeering enterprise, which included bribery, sexual exploitation of children, forced labor, and Mann Act violations.

 

The trial revealed that Kelly had a system of rules and control over his victims, including forcing them to call him “Daddy” and isolating them from their friends and family. He also recorded many of his sexual encounters, which constituted child pornography.
