Pilot, passenger dead after plane crashes in Alexander County, troopers say

Two people were hurt after a plane crashed in Alexander County Friday afternoon, according to troopers.

 

The crash happened around 12:50 p.m. on Friday, April 18, near Rink Dam Road in Taylorsville.

 

Troopers said a 1947 Pietenpol single-engine plane was trying to land at a private field when it wrecked.

 

A 74-year-old pilot and passenger were rushed to an area hospital with “minor injuries.”

Troopers advised that highway patrol secured the scene of the crash, and the FAA will conduct an investigation.

 

As of this writing, no further information was released.
