Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson Predicted to Replace $42 Million Pro Bowl RB
The NFL has devalued running backs over recent seasons. But the position arguably experienced its biggest resurgence in years during 2024. The league will also see the arrival of a few very talented running backs in the NFL Draft. That includes Ohio State Buckeyes’ TreVeyon Henderson. On Feb. 18, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah projected Henderson to land with the Minnesota Vikings at No. 24 overall in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. “The Vikings have had an up-close look at what a dynamic runner can do for an offense that also features a loaded passing attack (SEE: Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit),” Jeremiah wrote. “Minnesota finds its own RB weapon in Henderson, with Aaron Jones headed for free agency.”
Aaron Jones, who has an NFL career earnings total of $41.7 million, signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Vikings last season. But Jeremiah seemed to imply that Minnesota could forego bringing back Jones in favor of Henderson.
Henderson led the Big Ten in yards per carry twice during his four-year college career. As a senior, he averaged 7.1 yards per carry on his way to 1,016 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns
He tallied at least 11 total touchdowns in three of his four seasons at Ohio State. Henderson was never a workhorse back in the Ohio State offense, but that could work in his favor. Although he will turn 23 years old during his rookie season, Henderson will arrive in the NFL with little wear and tear on his body. Henderson was the second running back off the board in Jeremiah’s new mock draft. Jeremiah predicted Boise State Broncos’ Ashton Jeanty to be the first running back taken at No. 21 overall.
