Louisville police say 4 dead, 1 in critical after multi-vehicle crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE)- A multi-vehicle crash on Seventh Street Road at Wurtele Avenue sent four people to the hospital Sunday evening. The crash was reported just after 7 p.m. on Feb. 23.

 

Investigators said a passenger vehicle carrying a man and woman was rear-ended while turning left onto Wurtele. Witnesses told police the woman who rear-ended the vehicle was speeding.

 

The car that was rear-ended was forced into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by an additional car. The man and woman inside the initial car were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital. Police said the man should be OK, however the woman is in critical condition.

 

Two other drivers were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

 

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
