Units from all four stations of the Hopkinsville Fire Department were called early Tuesday morning to a major fire at the Metalsa manufacturing plant. An automatic alert was activated at 1:45 a.m., officials said.
“Upon arrival, crews were met with a large volume of fire coming from the roof of the facility,” an HFD release on Facebook stated. “Firefighters worked quickly to establish a water supply and set up aerial operations to begin attacking the fire.”
Everyone at Metalsa was safely evacuated, according to the release.
At 4:45 a.m., over 15 firefighters continued working to extinguish the fire.
“A call back crew has been brought in to maintain coverage throughout the city,” the release stated.
Information about the cause of the fire was not immediately available. The plant at 301 Bill Bryan Blvd. manufactures structural support systems for vehicles.
