Goldsboro school bus crash: Car driver airlifted, 2 children treated for minor injuries
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a school bus crash Wednesday afternoon involving Rosewood Elementary School students.
Wayne County Public Schools says the crash took place on Rosewood Road near the intersection of Autumn Winds Drive in Goldsboro.
The car driver was flown to a Greenville hospital with serious injuries.
A 4-year-old and a 12-year-old, were passengers of the car and suffered minor injuries.
They were treated at Wayne UNC Health.
Two children were on board the school bus but were not hurt.
“It was a mom driving, with a little boy in the car with her. The mom hit the bus head on and went straight under it. They had to get the ambulance and fireman out here. They cut the top off because she was stuck,” One witness said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The Highway Patrol is leading the investigation with assistance from Oakland and Rosewood Fire Departments and Wayne County EMS.
According to initial reports, the bus driver failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of the car.
