Fire breaks out at swim club in Fayetteville, department says

A fire broke out Wednesday evening at the clubhouse and surrounding woods of a swim club in Fayetteville, the fire department said.

A call came in at 6:25 p.m. about a fire at Lake Pines Swim Club off Murchison Road, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department, and the first unit arrived at 6:29 p.m. At that point, the clubhouse on the property was already “fully involved” with flames, the department said, and parts of the nearby woods were also on fire.

The blaze was brought under control in about an hour. No injuries were reported as of 7:40 p.m. as the clubhouse was believed to be unoccupied, but crews are still working to clear the scene.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and the Fayetteville Fire Department is investigating.
