ESPN’s Charlie Creme has released the first bracketology projection for the women’s NCAA Tournament. The Lady Vols have been up and down since the start of 2025, but with a few weeks remaining in the regular season, they can still climb the ladder.
Tennessee is projected as the No. 4 seed in the first bracketology for the women’s tournament. They are ranked No. 15 in the AP Poll, which would make them the third No. 4 seed as of now.
They will face No. 4 ranked South Carolina, the No. 1 seed in Region 2 Birmingham. They are currently slated to play No. 13 Grand Canyon in the first round of the tournament. Tennessee is also in the same region as the No. 2 seed, UConn, in Birmingham.
The Lady Vols beat Ole Miss 80-71 on Sunday afternoon to boost their resume. Although Ole Miss is not ranked in the AP Poll, bracketology also projects the Rebels as the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
The win over the Rebels should set Tennessee apart from the other four seeds and could help the Lady Vols jump to a No. 3 seed once the season is done.
It’s clear the margin between some of the No. 2 seeds and No. 4 seeds is not very large. LSU is a No. 2 seed, and Tennessee took them to their limits in both matchups. The Lady Vols already beat No. 2 seed UConn this year.
UConn’s dominant win over South Carolina could also shake up the seeding in the next bracketology projection. If the Lady Vols can continue winning, they could jump up to a No. 3 or maybe even a No. 2 seed by the start of the NCAA Tournament.
