Committed: 6 Vikings free-agents has re-signed in the 2025 offseason

One of the hardest parts of being a football fan is when you get attached to a player on your favorite team and then end up going to play for a different franchise. That kind of thing happens all the time in the NFL and Minnesota Vikings fans are no stranger to that occurance.

This offseason, there is an impressive number of Vikings free agents that could have a new home for the 2025 NFL season. However, the purple and gold could prevent that from happening to individuals they feel could help the team in the future by re-signing them.

The purple and gold won’t be able to afford to bring them all back and likely wouldn’t even want to do that, but there are some players who should be on their short list of individuals to re-sign for the 2025 NFL season.

Vikings free-agents most likely to re-sign in the 2025 offseason

Let’s take a look at six players who are scheduled to be free agents but could return to the Minnesota Vikings with a new contract.

Aaron Jones, running back

Minnesota could let Aaron Jones go, but the Vikings don’t have any better options on the roster because the top running back still signed to the team at this moment is Ty Chandler, who has yet to truly prove himself.

Jones has already stated that he would like to return to the Vikings, so bringing him back when both sides are interested seems like something that should happen. He gives Minnesota’s offense a great mix of rushing and receiving out of the backfield and hopefully, he’ll be back to do that in 2025.

Camryn Bynum, safety

If Harrison Smith retires and the Vikings allow Camryn Bynum to leave in free agency, Minnesota will need to find two new starting safeties for the secondary. Not only that, but Bynum’s experience in Brian Flores’ defense and his infectious energy make him an even stronger re-signing option.

Ryan Wright, punter

He’s not the best punter in the league, but Ryan Wright was a solid enough punter that bringing him back to remain part of Minnesota’s special teams grouping makes a lot of sense. Not only that, but he should be an inexpensive player to retain so the Vikings don’t have to look outside for a replacement.

Byron Murphy, cornerback

The cornerback room is thinning out for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. While older, expensive veterans likely won’t be back, it would make sense for 27-year-old Byron Murphy to come back and help the young defensive backs learn while providing a floor for the defense.

Johnny Mundt, tight end

Another inexpensive player, tight end Johnny Mundt is a strong backup who has shown the ability to do whatever is asked of him in Minnesota’s offense. He’s a great depth piece and a reliable backup who should be back in a Vikings jersey next season.

Cam Akers, running back

If the Minnesota Vikings don’t re-sign Cam Akers, they will probably end up trading for him again during the season. All jokes aside, Akers is a good rotational running back to pair with Aaron Jones and could be on the more inexpensive side to bring back, especially at 25 years old.
