Car ploughs into front of Oswaldtwistle restaurant as owners issue statement

Dramatic pictures show the front of the building completely destroyed following the early morning smash

A popular restaurant has been forced to close ‘until further notice’ after a car ploughed into the front of the building.

The incident happened at Royal Phoenix on Union Road in the Oswaldtwistle area of Accrington in the early hours of this morning (August 13). Owners of the Chinese restaurant posted pictures on Facebook this afternoon showing the show the trail of destruction left behind after the horror crash.

The vehicle crashed into the front of the building, which was closed at the time, resulting in severe damage to the wall. The large front window was also smashed leaving pieces of glass and debris strewn inside and across the road and pavement.

The wing mirrors of the car were also ripped off. Lancashire Police told LancsLive they have ‘traced the driver’ and no arrests have been made.

It has been classed as a ‘damage only’ collision. The Royal Phoenix posted a short statement on their Facebook alongside pictures of the damage.
