Cameron Carr announces transfer destination
After leaving the Tennessee basketball program suddenly last month, Cameron Carr has already found his new home. The former four-star prospect will head to Baylor, where he will apparently enroll immediately, but won’t be eligible until next season.
Carr was firmly in Tennessee’s rotation this year and had a clear path forward to be a main contributor next season. The 6-5 shooting guard was working through a thumb injury at the time of his departure.
“I think they probably didn’t understand the rule,” Rick Barnes said of Carr’s decision to leave. “I don’t know that, but that is what I would assume. We were, obviously, counting on him being part of the team.
“Surprised his teammates. They were very disappointed, so from here on, there is nothing to really talk about. He made his decision, no reason, it’s baffling to be quite honest with you.”
Tennessee has struggled with depth ever since. Freshman Bishop Boswell has been forced into action, while Barnes and the staff have been working on other issues in the frontcourt with JP Estrella out for the year.
Carr was averaging ten minutes per game in the very early season. He scored 4.8 points per game in just four appearances on the year. He did not suit up against his new team Baylor in the Bahamas.
