Busy road closed by police following crash between two cars
A busy road between Rishton and Great Harwood was closed by police following a crash.
Emergency services were called to Harwood Road in Rishton shortly before 9am this morning (March 18). Hyndburn Police said the road was closed in the area of the junction of Lee Lane and motorists were advised to ‘find an alternative route where possible’.
Pictures shared on social media showed two vehicles involved in the incident and police at the scene directing traffic. One person posted on Facebook saying: “My daughter is on a number 7 bus to Rishton and said there had been a smash on Lee Lane in the last couple of minutes, just a heads up! Hope everyone involved is OK!”
Another wrote: “You can get through into Rishton from Great Harwood but you can’t get from Rishton to Great Harwood on that road. Police still turning cars around.”
Lancashire Police told LancsLive that it was classed as a ‘minor injury’ road traffic collision and no further details have been released. The road has since fully reopened
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports: “Harwood Road in both directions clear, earlier accident between Wilpshire Road and Daniell Street. Road reopened.”
