Broncos QB Zach Wilson Floated as Replacement for Pro Bowler

Zach Wilson the former New York Jets quarterback is being considered as a replacement for a Pro Bowler specifically Russell Wilson, who was released by the Denver Broncos. This development comes after the Broncos traded for Zach Wilson, the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, prior to the 2024 NFL Draft ¹.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Zach Wilson is “in the mix” for the Broncos’ starting quarterback job, alongside Bo Nix, the team’s first-round pick, and Jarrett Stidham ¹. This competition for the starting spot is seen as an opportunity for Wilson to revive his career and prove himself as a capable NFL quarterback.

The Broncos’ head coach, Sean Payton, has expressed his willingness to give Wilson a chance to compete for the starting job, despite Nix being the team’s first-round pick. Payton has referred to his three-man quarterback group as “orphaned dogs” who are racing to learn his new system ¹.

While Zach Wilson’s career has been marked by inconsistency and disappointment, he has shown flashes of brilliance, throwing for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions across 34 appearances in the NFL ¹. If he can regain his confidence and form, Wilson may yet prove to be a valuable asset for the Broncos
