7-Year-Old Survives Fatal Crash, Then Climbs Out of Wrecked Car and Calls for Help: Authorities brutally react

Following an automobile accident, the small child ascended a 15-foot hillside to signal a passing motorist, according to fire officials.

A 7-year-old who survived a car crash in Washington state out of the wreckage to flag down a passerby for help, authorities said.

Authorities in Kelso reported in a press statement released on Sunday, October 6, that just before 11 a.m. local time, a car crashed 50 feet off of a road. In a report, Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue stated that the vehicle had plummeted fifteen feet down an embankment with “scattered rocks across the road of travel” and that “heavy extrication” was necessary to free all of the occupants.

According to the Fire and Rescue team, three children — ages 2, 7 and 9 — and one adult man were in the car at the time of the crash. The man was found dead at the scene.

 

Shortly after the crash, the 7-year-old “exited the car and climbed the embankment” before flagging down a passing driver.

The driver called 911, and firefighters from Cowlitz, the Longview Fire Deptarment and Cowlitz County District 6 in Castle Rock, Wash. responded to the accident, along with officials from the Washington State Patrol. The crews used hydraulic extrication tools to cut two passengers out of the car, the press release stated

The 9-year-old was flown to a hospital in nearby Portland, Ore. “for multiple injuries from a car rollover.” The 7-year-old and 2-year-old were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
