Emergency responders are searching for a missing boater after a Saturday morning crash in Lauderdale County.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says a 13-year-old juvenile has been rescued but 63-year-old Daniel E. Hamm of Florence is still missing after a boat struck a bridge piling on Pickwick Lake at approximately 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The teen’s name was not released.
Authorities say the pair were on board the boat when it struck a bridge near the TVA’s Rockpile Boat Ramp, and both occupants were thrown overboard.
Troopers with ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, ALEA’s Aviation Unit, the Florence Dive Team along with several other agencies are assisting with the search and rescue effort.
No further information was available as of shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.
