5 killed following 2-vehicle crash in Hopkinsville

A collision in Hopkinsville Sunday afternoon left five people injured, two of whom are in critical condition, according to officials.

 

Hopkinsville Fire/EMS initially posted about the crash at 4:22 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, saying personnel were handling a crash involving two vehicles near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Pembroke Road. Officials added that Air Medical had been called for one man and one child.

According to WKDZ Radio, the Hopkinsville Police Department said a tractor-trailer was on Pembroke Road, crossing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, when it collided with an SUV that was on Dr. Martin Luther King Way.

 

In an update at 5:10 p.m., Hopkinsville Fire/EMS said five people had been transported from the scene, including two with critical injuries who were flown in separate helicopters. WKDZ Radio identified those two as the driver and a passenger from the SUV, saying they were flown to Nashville.

Meanwhile, the remaining three patients — described by the radio station as the driver of the tractor-trailer and two other passengers from the SUV — were reportedly brought to Jennie Stuart Health via ambulance to be treated for minor injuries.

 

No additional details have been released about the circumstances surrounding this incident.
