73-year-old bicyclist killed in south Charlotte crash, police say

The bicyclist killed in a crash Friday afternoon in south Charlotte has been identified, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that a bicyclist and a semi-truck were involved in the crash.

 

According to police, the crash happened at the intersection of Woodlawn and Park roads around 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they said they found a semi-truck stopped on East Woodlawn Road and an unresponsive man in the road. MEDIC said the bicyclist died on the scene.

 

The bicyclist was identified as William Sterling Yoder, 73.

 

Speed and impairment are not suspected in the crash, police said. Yoder’s family members have been notified of his death.
