Desperate search for four teenagers who vanished on camping trip in Wales

As police announced that the car the four teenagers were traveling in had been located, the mother of one of the teens who went missing while camping in North Wales claimed she was “frantic with worry.” In Snowdonia, where nighttime lows of zero were experienced, Jevon Hirst, 16, Harvey Owen, 17, Wilf Henderson, and Hugo Morris, 18, were last seen driving a silver Ford Fiesta on Sunday.

The males, who were from the Shrewsbury area and were in their late teens, are believed to have been traveling in Gwynedd’s Harlech and Porthmadog regions when they vanished. According to a statement from North Wales Police, the car the missing youngsters were driving was found today.

Families of individuals affected have been informed, and police officers and colleagues from other emergency services are currently at the scene.

The lads were only doing a one-night trip, but their relatives add that they are “frantic with worry” and that they only had basic camping gear with them.

They were supposed to return home on Monday morning, but according to MailOnline, they haven’t heard from anybody since and have switched off their phones.

Harvey Owen’s mother, Crystal Owen, told the BBC: “We haven’t slept a wink, and we are desperate to follow any lead we can.” I am quite concerned.

Given the cold weather, I would not have allowed him to travel where he was going if I had known. We simply hope they parked, got lost, and are okay because they are all sensitive, intellectual boys. In the Eryri (Snowdonia) national park, a police helicopter, coast guard, and mountain rescue teams have all been part in a massive search and rescue operation.

Concerned parents have posted an information request from the police on social media, stating that they are “desperate for any news.” One said, “Please continue sharing… Please get in touch with the police if you have any information or can think of anything that could help locate the guys. We are in dire need of any updates.

Another added: “I am frantic with worry, one of these boys is my son Harvey. “If you have any information, please get in touch with us or share with anyone in Wales.” They are not seasoned campers, Lisa Corfield, Wilf’s girlfriend Maddi’s mother, according to MailOnline. “They were only going for the night, so they just had a tent and sleeping bags, but they have never been there before.” According to Chris Lloyd of the Ogwen Valley mountain rescue team, yesterday they searched for the missing boys.

Mr Lloyd said: “Our first job was to look for any indication they were on the mountain. Two or three crews were sent out to drive around each parking lot. The automobile is nowhere to be found.

“We are still actively searching for it and will not stop. There isn’t a designated search area. The guys were last observed driving a car bearing the license plate HY14 GVO.
