Obituary: Stratford man and wife who died in Shelton crash ‘lover of all things physically active’

According to his obituary, friends and family of a guy from Stratford who passed away in an automobile accident in Shelton last week remember him as an athlete.

Shelton police reported that on September 13, Hans David Shmigelsky, 40, of Stratford, previously of Bethany and Cheshire, passed away in an automobile accident.

“He loved everything that included physical activity. His obituary stated, “He was an athlete who enjoyed numerous sports, including our family’s weekend ski vacations, water, sports, fishing, boating, and hiking the Appalachian Trail.

According to his obituary, “He loved adventure and travel, especially mission trips.” “He will be missed tremendously, but will always live on in our hearts.” According to Shelton Police Department Det. Richard Bango, he was riding a moped on Armstrong Road. According to Bango, the driver struck the motorbike while turning left off Armstrong Road into the Shelton Square shopping mall.

Hans Peter and Anita Shmigelsky of South Carolina gave birth to Shmigelsky in New Haven on May 15, 1984. According to his obituary at Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home and Cremation Service in East Haven, Shmigelsky is survived by his parents and two sisters. According to his obituary, Shmigelsky went to Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia, and Laurel Oaks Adventist School in Hamden. He also graduated from Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090, is accepting donations in Hans Shmigelsky’s honor.
