Boat crash kills 5, injures another on Lake Cumberland

Following a watercraft mishap on Lake Cumberland on Thursday night, four boaters were forced to swim to shore, and one person was evacuated to a hospital for treatment. Around 8:30 p.m., Russell County Search and Rescue reports that they received a call of a sinking boat close to Campbell’s Landing Boat Ramp. The catastrophe had caused severe damage to the yacht. When the search and rescue crew arrived, all four of the boaters were swimming to shore while wearing life jackets. While the others only received minor injuries, one person was transported by air to the University of Kentucky Hospital due to damage to his or her head and hands.
