Wildfires and Gusting Winds Force Closures at Great Smoky Mountains National Park

 

Great Smoky Mountains National Park has closed several roads and campgrounds due to wildfires and gusting winds. The park, which straddles the Tennessee-North Carolina border, is experiencing elevated fire danger and strong winds, prompting officials to take precautions to ensure visitor safety.

 

_Road Closures_

 

The following roads are currently closed:

 

– Clingmans Dome Road

– Newfound Gap Road

– Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail

 

_Campground Closures_

 

The following campgrounds are closed:

 

– Cades Cove Campground

– Smokemont Campground

– Deep Creek Campground

 

_Fire Danger_

 

The park is experiencing elevated fire danger due to dry conditions and gusting winds. Visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution and follow all park regulations.
