Seahawks Reportedly Signed 4 years contract with the Vikings with full Comitment immediately loss vs Rams
The fourth offensive coordinator candidate to publicly interview for the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator vacancy is Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant OC Grant Udinski. Late Tuesday afternoon NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported that the former college tight end turned defensive end has been requested to interview by the Seahawks, citing sources, with an expectation that he will be granted permission to do so.
Udinski – pronounced “U-din-skee” – began his coaching career at Baylor University in 2019 under then-coach Matt Rhule as a graduate assistant, according to the Bears’ football media guide. He followed Rhule to the National Football League the following year in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers, listed as one of two coaching assistants for the organization and accompanied only by a two sentence bio noting his playing career as a defensive lineman at Towson University from 2016-18 and his previous season at Baylor.
Udinski stayed with Rhule until 2022 when he left to become the Vikings’ assistant to the head coach with an additional title of special projects, linking up with head coach Kevin O’Connell for the first time in his coaching career. The two previously had no overlapping connection, but since joining the organization Udinski moved up the ranks in 2023 to becoming the assistant quarterbacks coach replacing Jerrod Johnson, who was named the Houston Texans quarterbacks coach where he currently remains. Udinski, 28, would be an outside the box hire for Seahawks’ coach Mike Macdonald, the youngest head coach in NFL at 36-years-old.
Under the direction of O’Connell the Vikings have had one of the better offenses in the league with Kirk Cousins and most recently Sam Darnold at quarterback. Darnold, a former No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Jets out of USC, signed a one-year contract with the Vikings last March and could potentially be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, something Macdonald and Seattle could be exploring by requesting to interview Udinski. He’s the fourth public name linked to the Seahawks’ OC opening, joining Detroit Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley, Chicago Bears OC and interim HC Thomas Brown and New Orleans Saints OC Klint Kubiak.
