Dozens rescued after cable car accident kills one person in Turkey

The health and justice ministers of Turkey have reported that a cable car cabin that collided with a broken pole in the province of Antalya in the country’s south has resulted in one death and seventeen injuries. On the social media site X on Saturday, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca stated that the injured individuals “were transferred to hospitals and their treatment continues.” He said, “People who were rescued and said they didn’t need hospital transportation had their health examinations done in ambulances.”

Late Friday afternoon was when the accident occurred. According to Koca, one cable car in the Sarisu-Tunektepe system fell into a rocky location. 184 persons who had been left trapped in midair following the disaster had been recovered after around 24 hours of rescue efforts, according to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency. The Ministry of the Interior stated in a statement on X that around 500 rescue personnel and seven helicopters were involved in the operation.

Seven hours into the ordeal, Hatice Polat, a native of Istanbul, and her family were saved. She told Anadolu that the pod flipped four or five times when the electricity went out. “The night was terrible, and we were really afraid.” The kids that were with us passed out,” she remarked. “Spending seven hours up there was agony. It is swaying every other second, and you are afraid all the time. .. It was really terrible, and I’m not sure how we’ll move past it.
