Teen dies after car falls down embankment near Mount Magazine

The car the youngster was riding in went down a steep embankment close to Mount Magazine, causing the teen to perish in the incident Monday morning, according to authorities. According to a preliminary crash report by state police, Roberto Oblea, 19, was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze traveling south on Arkansas 309, south of the Lodge at Mount Magazine, at around 6:20 a.m.

The vehicle exited the road to the right and traveled down an embankment before striking a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle, the report states. Troopers said the car turned onto its passenger side before coming to a final rest.

There were no other injuries recorded. When the crash occurred, troopers reported seeing clear but dimly lighted circumstances. A summary report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety states that at least 43 persons have lost their lives as a result of collisions on Arkansas highways thus far this year.
