Tragedy struck in Texas yesterday when a devastating head-on crash claimed the lives of six people and left three others critically injured. The accident occurred near Cleburne, about 33 miles south of Fort Worth, after a pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes in a no-passing zone and slammed into a minivan ¹.
The victims of the minivan were traveling home from a visit to a wildlife park when the tragedy unfolded. Rushil Barri, the 28-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, along with five passengers: Naveena Potabathula, 36, and her children, Nishidha, 9, and Krithik, 10, as well as her parents, Sitamahalakshmi Ponnada, 60, and Nageswararao Ponnada, 64 ¹.
Lokesh Potabathula, Barri’s cousin, was the sole survivor in the minivan and remains in critical condition. Two 17-year-old boys, Luke Resecker and Preston Glass, who were in the pickup truck, were also hospitalized with severe injuries ¹.
The incident has left the community reeling, with friends and relatives mourning the loss of their loved ones. The Telugu Association of North America reported that all the adults in the minivan were immigrants from India ¹.
