2025 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings mock draft selections reveal fascinating trend among national analysts
Over the course of the first seven weeks of the 2025 calendar year, I tracked all of the NFL mock draft selections for the Minnesota Vikings.
In that time, I have collected 184 mock drafts from across the industry, with 35 different players selected. This paints an interesting picture of what the Vikings might do in April’s annual selection meeting.
There are quite a few things that can change over the next two months with free agency set to begin in March. However, looking at the data as the process goes forward gives us some interesting information we can use to project forward.
Minnesota Vikings NFL Mock Draft data
There is a lot of interesting data when it comes to the Vikings’ mock draft selections. I have tracked 184 mock drafts since January 1st with 35 different prospects. Of those prospects, they are split up between eight position groups with one player being grouped in two of them (Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter)
.The different positions make a lot of sense for the Vikings. Cornerback and defensive line are two major needs, while the Vikings being sent that many unique offensive line is somewhat misguided. Of the nine offensive linemen, five of them are offensive tackles, which is one of the strongest positions on the roster.
The breakdowns are also interesting to take a look at with 74 cornerbacks and 48 defensive tackles being sent to the Vikings, a rate of 66.3%.
Player selection
This is one of the interesting things when it comes to how things are working with mock drafts. There are only four players who have been sent to the Vikings in each of the first seven weeks.
Seeing groups of data like this are really interesting to keep track of as we get further into the NFL Draft process. Getting into February is usually when most analysts start to catch up with the prospect’s tape.
Emmanwori is one of those players that will rise up draft boards when you watch him play football. He’s 6′-3, 227 lbs and has all the athleticism you can ask for at that size. He is willing to get his hands dirty in the run game, but his ability in coverage is what separates him from the other players.
We are going to get more data over the next two months that will give us more information on what the Vikings will end up doing. What’s interesting here is how Emmanwori just shot up the draft boards.
I have four years of data with the last two years being significantly more complete than the first two.
2022: 173 selections, S Lewis Cine (0), CB Andrew Booth Jr. (7, seventh most)
2023: 545 selections, WR Jordan Addison (52 selections, second most)
2024: 838 selections, QB J.J. McCarthy (273 selections, most), EDGE Dallas Turner (44 selections, seventh most)
There is a precedent that the more selections given to a prospect the more they will end up selecting them. Right now, that looks to be one of the following players:
