WEMA: Mother and daughter age 12 killed in wreck on East Division in Wilson County

Authorities in Wilson County say that a head-on collision between an SUV and a concrete truck on Wednesday morning near Lebanon and Mt. Juliet claimed the lives of a mother and her 12-year-old daughter. The driver of a 2021 Hyundai Palisade that perished was identified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol as Brooke Brashier, 38. THP just provided the child’s age—a 12-year-old girl—without identifying her.

The youth was the driver’s daughter, Wilson County Emergency Management Agency Director Joey Cooper said.

The crash closed a portion of East Division Street in Wilson County for hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

The wreck occurred at 8:45 a.m. near the 4200 block of East Division Street, west of State Route 109, between Posey Hill and Beckwith roads, according to Cooper.

Both vehicles went off the road on the north side of East Division Street. The concrete truck, which was headed east, landed on top of the SUV traveling westbound, Cooper said.

The mother and daughter died at the scene of the crash, Cooper said. They were the only occupants of the SUV, Cooper said.

The driver of the concrete truck was transported to a medical facility in Nashville. The extent of the concrete truck driver’s injuries was unknown.

The “tumbler” fell off the concrete truck and rolled about 50 yards east spilling moist gravel on East Division, Cooper said. Wires were also downed in the incident.

THP’s description of the crash in its preliminary report states that the Palisade was headed westbound on East Division and “lost control slightly running off roadway.” The driver then overcorrected and crossed the center line and collided with the work truck going eastbound head-on, the THP preliminary report states.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route as first responders worked.
