4 people die after 2 small planes collide midair in Winter Haven, Florida

Over the weekend, two young persons in the Lakes Region lost their lives in separate car accidents. On Sunday, a 17-year-old boy from Tuftonboro passed away near Wolfeboro after the Ford F-350 he was driving veered off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle drove off the road near 645 N. Main when the driver was traveling on North Main Street toward Tuftonboro, according to a press release from Wolfeboro police. According to the announcement, there was a “high rate of speed” just before the collision, but no other cars were involved. When rescue workers arrived, the driver was stuck inside the truck and needed to be freed using extrication gear. After being taken to Huggins Hospital, the driver was declared deceased.

Wolfeboro police stated that the crash victim was scheduled to start his senior year at Kingswood Regional High School. The police withheld the victim’s name. Madeline Tredo, a 23-year-old Meredith resident, lost her life in a head-on collision on Route 118 in Dorchester on Saturday night. According to a press release from the New Hampshire State Police, on August 24, at approximately 5 p.m., Tredo was riding east on the highway when she seemed to violate the center line while making a turn and ended up in the path of an approaching car. Investigations are under underway into every facet of the crash. Trooper is asking anyone with knowledge on the collision to get in touch with them.

These crashes occurred during a weekend when there were multiple other traffic fatalities in the state. Fatal accidents also took place in Albany and Greenville on Aug. 24, and in Londonderry on Aug. 23.
