Sightseeing cruise boat crashes into Lake Superior break wall, 2 injured

Authorities said that two passengers were hurt after a tourist boat struck a Lake Superior break wall over the weekend. The U.S. Coast Guard reports that on Saturday night, the Vista Star impacted a break wall in the Superior Entry, which is a canal between Lake Superior and Allouez Bay close to Duluth, Minnesota. A total of 95 persons were on board.

Local fire and police marine units, as well as USCG Station Duluth, initiated an intervention, according to officials. One individual with head and hip injuries was retrieved by Coast Guard personnel and taken to emergency medical services on shore. The 92-foot cruise boat was escorted to Minnesota Slip in Duluth by USCG and local troops, according to officials. After inspection, there was no damage visible above the waterline on the boat.
