5 people killed in a 4-vehicle chain reaction crash on central Utah highway

Four people from Minnesota and a Utah man were killed in a four-vehicle chain reaction incident in central Utah, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. According to the patrol, on Thursday afternoon, while the SUV was turning onto U.S. Highway 6 near Price, the driver missed the acceleration lane and crossed the path of a semitractor towing two trailers. The semi’s driver lost control while attempting to swerve to avoid colliding with the SUV and crossed the median. A Nissan Rogue in the other lane was impacted by the semi, which caused it to go off the road and into a rock embankment. Additionally, an all-terrain vehicle that was moving on the highway’s shoulder was struck by the Nissan and the semi.

The person on the ATV and the four occupants of the Nissan were both slain, according to the patrol. The trailers and the semitractor came to rest on their side. The victims in the Nissan were Bee Moua, 26, and Mai Lor, 25, both of St. Paul, Minnesota; Sang Her, 56, and Lee Thao, 38, both of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, were also listed by the police on Friday. Gustavo Mendoza, a 35-year-old resident of Helper, Utah, was the ATV driver. The SUV’s driver, who had been pulling onto the highway, was slightly hurt.
