Multiple people dead after plane crash at Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport

The Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport saw a single-engine plane crash into a wooded area on Saturday afternoon, killing multiple people, according to the National Park Service. The crash happened at 5 p.m., and witnesses reported that the aircraft was attempting to land at the airport. The airport caught fire after the crash, which was extinguished by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and other local fire departments. The airport will remain closed until further notice, and the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will both conduct an investigation into the event.

The event is going to be looked into by the National Transportation Safety Board. Notified parties include the Federal Aviation Administration as well. The Park Service announced that the Wright Brothers National Memorial will be closed on Sunday.
