Man dies after boating crash on New Hampshire lake

According to state police, a man died in an early Sunday morning boating accident on a lake in New Hampshire. Around 6:42 a.m., Thomas Mead, 76, of Tilton was struck by a pontoon boat piloted by a 17-year-old kid as he was on the Lake Winnisquam water in a small collapsible rowing vessel, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Before fire and medical personnel could arrive, the adolescent hauled Mead onto the pontoon boat and started CPR. Mead was taken to Concord Hospital in Laconia and later declared dead. At the scene, state police were aided by personnel from the following departments: Tilton Police Department, Sanbornton Police Department, Belmont Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, and Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS.
