Man and family dies after boat crashes into island on lake

Russell County Search & Rescue and several other agencies responded to a two-boat collision on Lake Cumberland between the communities of Low Gap and Marina Rowena just before nine o’clock on Saturday, July 13. Three people got into the water as a result of the collision. Thankfully, life jackets were on all three of them, which surely prevented their deaths. One person was injured and had to be pulled out of the water. The patient was assisted by four rescue divers onto a spine board.
