‘No words’: Family devastated after plane crash horror

For the first time since the tragedy, the family of the four individuals who perished in a terrifying plane crash has spoken. Around 2:50 p.m. on Friday, Peter Nally, 65, and his three grandkids, Raphael, 11, Evita, 9, and Philomena, 6, perished in a light plane crash outside of Canberra. “Words cannot express the sorrow our family is experiencing right now,” the Nally family stated in a brief statement released by NSW Police.

“We are grateful for the tremendous support we still get from the local community, our friends, and our extended family.”

“We request that the media respect our privacy as we grieve and process this tragedy, as we are still coming to terms with our loss.” After visiting family in the Canberra district of Ainslie, Mr. Nally, an accomplished pilot from Bunya, Queensland, was transporting his three grandkids back to his daughter Elyse’s residence in Armidale, northern New South Wales. Soon after taking off from Canberra airport at 2:30 pm, the Cirrus SR22 light plane they were travelling in lost communication with air traffic authorities. Terrifying audio showed the controllers’ desperate attempts, unsuccessful, to get in touch with Mr. Nally. The aircraft crashed and caught fire at a remote property close to Lake George in the NSW Tablelands in a matter of minutes.
