Sad news: 4 climbers found dead on Mont Blanc after victims’ phone connection with rescuers reportedly cuts out

After going missing for three days due to terrible weather, four climbers from Italy and South Korea were discovered dead on Tuesday on Mont Blanc, the highest summit in the Alps, according to the French prefecture in charge of the area. The Haute-Savoie prefecture told AFP that the mountaineers had “died of exhaustion,” and that when rescuers eventually arrived at the scene, they discovered the two Koreans near the two Italians. At approximately 1:30 pm, a PGHM mountain police aircraft from Annecy was able to land and locate the dead approximately 100-200 meters (330-660 feet) from the peak.

The PGHM branch in Chamonix said that “the families informed” and that “the bodies have been brought down” from the mountain.
