American Boy, 15, and 2 Others Killed in an Avalanche Near Swiss Resort of Zermatt

According to local authorities, the avalanche started on Monday around 2:00 p.m. local time off the slopes of Riffelberg near the Swiss Alpine ski resort of Zermatt.

Three of the four persons who were pulled out of the snow by police did not make it out alive. A 15-year-old American boy was one of the victims; the authorities have not revealed his identify.
