US Forest Service pilot fighting fire near Stanley hikes to safety after helicopter crash

Authorities claim that before the helicopter crashed in the Sawtooth National Forest while responding to a minor wildfire in central Idaho, the pilot lived and managed to hike to an ambulance that was waiting. One of the aircraft that responded to a small wildfire that was blazing close to Redfish Lake, a well-liked spot for camping and enjoyment, on Thursday night was the helicopter. The incident will be looked into by the National Transportation Safety Board, according to U.S. Forest Service spokesperson Angela Hawkins. She stated that more information could not be released by the Forest Service right now. Due to the fire, one small campground on the lake’s southernmost point was evacuated by the authorities.

According to authorities, the pilot of the helicopter that was responding to a minor wildfire in central Idaho when it crashed in the Sawtooth National Forest managed to escape and made it to a waiting ambulance on foot.
