The Taylorville community is mourning the loss of a beloved figure as former long-time Banker James “Jim” Smith passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 82. Smith dedicated over four decades to serving the financial needs of Taylorville residents, leaving an indelible mark on the town.

Smith’s banking career spanned an impressive 43 years, with 35 of those years spent at First National Bank of Taylorville, where he rose to the position of President and CEO. His leadership and expertise guided the bank through periods of growth and economic challenges, earning him widespread respect.

Smith’s impact extended far beyond the banking sector. He was an ardent supporter of local organizations, including the Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and United Way.
