Marquez Dominates MotoGP Practice in USA as Quartararo Slams “Dangerous” Track

Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez set the pace in practice for the Grand Prix of the America’s but Fabio Quartararo stole the headlines with scathing criticism of the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) track.

Marquez, riding for Repsol Honda, topped the timesheets in both FP1 and FP2, setting a blistering lap record of 2:03.787. The Spanish rider looks in ominous form as he bids for a seventh consecutive victory in Texas.

However, Quartararo, who rides for Monster Energy Yamaha, was less than impressed with the track conditions. The French rider slammed the COTA circuit as “dangerous” and “a joke,” citing the bumps and lack of grip as major concerns.

“The track is a disaster,” Quartararo said in a post-practice interview. “It’s like a motocross track, not a MotoGP track. The bumps are so bad, it’s like riding a dirt bike. I don’t know how we’re supposed to ride here safely.”

Quartararo’s comments were echoed by other riders, who expressed concerns about the track’s surface and layout. Despite the criticism, Marquez remained unfazed, focusing on his own performance and setup.

“I’m feeling good, the bike is working well, and I’m comfortable on the track,” Marquez said. “Of course, there are some bumps, but it’s the same for everyone. We’ll see how the weekend develops.”

The controversy surrounding the COTA track has added an extra layer of intrigue to the Grand Prix of the Americas. Will Marquez continue his dominance, or will Quartararo’s criticism spark a change in fortunes? One thing is certain – the battle for MotoGP supremacyill be fierce.
