Tony Stewart to join the NHRA as a team owner in 2024.

Tony Stewart, a NASCAR Hall of Famer, is venturing out into another kind of motorsport by fielding two entries in the NHRA next season.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. defended Bubba Wallace’s hit on Alex Bowman by reflecting on his two encounters with Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin. On Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt initially discussed getting into it with Stewart while racing at Martinsville. “I wrecked somebody, I spun somebody out,” Earnhardt admitted. “Tony Stewart was upset about it. Tony appears, although he is no longer involved. Tony approaches me, revs his motor, and swerves at me. So I just drove left and knocked the stupid right front end off his car.

“I was so upset, I was like, ‘This ain’t even your deal, buddy. You are not going to come up and try to tell… You’re not going to come up and try to control me or tell me what I should be doing. So I ask, “Do you want to swerve?” How about some contact? Do you want to make a small contact? Now you’re going to think twice. “That was during the caution.” Earnhardt then discussed racing in Charlotte and calling Hamlin following his altercation with Brad Keselowski. “I’m like, I got to go up and hit his fender right now,” Earnhardt said. “He hit my guy’s fender. I have to go grab his fender.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wants racers to have greater ‘freedom’ “That has to happen. Drivers must be capable of doing such things, whether they are correct or incorrect. I’m not suggesting they’re the appropriate choices, and I’m not saying the driver should act accordingly. However, the drivers must be able to have a small amount of flexibility.”

Earnhardt went on to say, “After the race, I’m fine if Bubba goes up there and hits the 48, and I’m fine if someone goes after Chase [Elliott], or Chase goes after anybody. If they want to fine them, that is great. I don’t think the drivers care too much about five, ten, or fifteen grand. Don’t take away points or dissuade this because this is what racing is all about.” Wallace collided with Bowman during the cooldown lap of the Chicago Street Race. NASCAR fined Wallace $50,000 for the incident, but the 30-year-old did not receive a points penalty. Bowman did not want Wallace to be punished since he knew Wallace was unhappy with him for getting hit earlier in the race.
