Breaking news: Deputies, SLED investigating Spartanburg Co. club after complaints of alleged erotic services, reported assaults

Spartanburg County, South Carolina (FOX Carolina) The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are investigating an Upstate nightclub following many complaints, including 77 dispatch calls. According to the sheriff’s office, the complaints were filed against Club Glow/Glow Lounge by local business owners who reported claimed littering, alcohol sales after hours, sexually-oriented services, and erotic dance. According to an incident report made available to the media, one of the complaints stated that several of the dancers were under the age of 18. Other complaints included gunshot, assault and battery, an information report for a shooting with no victim, and trespassing, according to the report. Since January 1, 2024, there have been three occurrences of persons being shot with a firearm at this club, according to the sheriff.

As a result of these reports, the Spartanburg County Gang Unit worked with SLED to inspect Club Glow. Deputies reported that when they arrived at Club Glow at 2:10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, and attempted to enter, personnel shut the doors and denied law enforcement admission. Deputies reported that after several minutes of knocking, they were allowed inside. When law officers entered the club, they discovered open spirits bottles on tables, a considerable amount of cash money on the floors and dancing ladies dressed ‘erotically’. Deputies reportedly reported detecting a strong marijuana odour. Deputies claimed they spoke with some of the ladies, and they acknowledged to undressing for money. According to Chapter 42 Health and Sanitation sections 104-105, such facilities must be 1,000 feet from a church or school. According to the sheriff’s office, Club Glow is around 750 feet from Solid Rock Church. According to code section 42-107, a sexually oriented business must apply for the permit specified in section 42-110 within 30 days of the article’s effective date. According to deputies, as of June 28, 2024, no such permit had been requested at this area. Several warrants were issued for violations of private security and refusal to authorise inspections.
