MP Motorsport’s Franco Colaonto was the first to take the track in the 45-minute practice, followed by Hitech GP’s points leader Paul Aron, who posted the quickest time of 1m59.526s, while Colapinto returned to the pits. Taylor Barnard and teammate Duerksen were third and fourth, but were moved down the order when Trident’s Richard Verschoor and Roman Stanek took off and went second and third quickest.

By the second half of the session, all except Campos Racing and Prema drivers had left the pits, with the latter’s lineup ultimately exiting with 18 minutes remaining. Their initial flying laps put them one-two, with Ollie Bearman achieving a time of 1m59.474s and Andrea Kimi Antonelli 0.019s slower. Pepe Marti of Campos then departed the pits, completing his first lap with 13 minutes remaining on the clock. It put him in 15th place, and on his next attempt, he easily went fastest with a 1m58.693s. With nine and a half minutes to go, Duerksen passed Marti with a time of 1m58.064s. That went undefeated, with Barnard the only other driver who could reach within a second of Duerksen.
