DOOR CLOSING FOR SAINZ AT WILLIAMS AS IT REOPENS TO TALK WITH OTHER F1 DRIVERS

Carlos Sainz’s Formula One options for 2025 may be shrinking, with teams that have been waiting for him to make a decision on his future now considering other options.

For weeks, the Spaniard has been evaluating distinct offers from both Sauber/Audi and Williams for next season. However, as the Ferrari driver appeared to be nearing a definitive choice around the time of the Spanish Grand Prix, his situation became more problematic as Alpine increased its efforts to bring him on board. That follows the appointment of veteran F1 team boss Flavio Briatore as an advisor to Renault CEO Luca de Meo, who has stated that Alpine should move quickly with driver signings in the coming years so that it can focus only on its car.
