The New York Islanders have signed winger Anthony Duclair to a four-year contract worth $3.5 million per year.
Duclair, an NHL veteran of ten seasons, has moved throughout the league over his 563 career games. He most recently played 17 games (including playoffs) for the Tampa Bay Lightning, scoring eight goals and accumulating 15 points.
What Does Duclair Have To Offer? Duclair is an intriguing player. The former third-round pick has scorching pace and can be difficult to contain when fully charged. He is learning to improve his quickness and use it to bore down on defenders rather than simply rushing up the boards and figuring it out later. He also has excellent hands and has demonstrated an intriguing scoring ability as his career has progressed. He set career highs in goals (31), assists (27), and points (58) during his second season with the Florida Panthers in 2021-22. How Duclair Fits With The Islanders Duclair will most likely be pushed to enhance his off-the-ice performance. He has proven himself capable of generating space for himself and his teammates, but he will need to do so in a larger capacity. At his best, he ranks as a legitimate top-six option.
