Car sales on the side of the parkway will soon be prohibited in Pigeon Forge.

Advertising is permitted this year during the Rod Run, but will be prohibited in the future, according to Pigeon Forge officials. Author: Vinay Simlot Published: 4:25 PM EDT, April 15, 2024. Updated at 4:25 PM EDT. April 15, 2024. Pigeon Forge, Tennessee — According to Pigeon Forge Assistant City Manager Eric Brackins, car advertising along the parkway will soon come to an end. Visitors frequently promote cars on the side of the road during car shows such as Rod Run. Enthusiasts will be able to advertise their automobiles at this spring’s Rod Run beginning Thursday. However, Brackins believes that this may alter in the autumn.

Pigeon Forge and the Tennessee Department of Transportation have agreed to make this adjustment. TDOT owns the parkway and its “right of way,” which includes the first row of parking lots in front of businesses on the parkway. The state agency leases those parking spaces to the town of Pigeon Forge, who then sub-lease them to local companies. According to the contract negotiated between TDOT and Pigeon Forge in 2016, vehicles parked in such spots are not permitted to display any advertising. However, the sublease agreements between TDOT and local businesses stated that cars parked on the right of way may not be advertised for more than 72 hours. This year, TDOT requested that Pigeon Forge change their contracts to bring them into line.

Brackins stated that Pigeon Forge will now have to bring the revised subleases to local businesses, have them sign them, and enact an ordinance before the police can enforce the changes. The Rod Run organisers stated that the adjustment would have no effect on the actual car show because it takes place at the LeConte Centre in Pigeon Forge rather than along the parkway.
