Sad News: detriot lions key man has sustained a brutal neck injury with 2 legs broken…

With uncertainty surrounding whether or not each player will get a deal done, Lions’ coach Dan Campbell said Tuesday during the NFL’s annual league meeting that the organization has begun discussions with each player regarding an extension.

Reports surfaced earlier in the offseason that St. Brown’s extension could be in the range of $26-to-$28 million annually. Meanwhile, little has been reported about Goff’s extension, but he could land a hefty new deal with the quarterback market rising.

Both St. Brown and Goff have been huge parts of the Lions’ offensive renaissance since coming to Detroit in 2021, St. Brown via the Draft and Goff via trade. The two have struck up a fantastic partnership that has helped drive offensive coordinator Ben Johnson’s group into one of the league’s best.

Through three NFL seasons, St. Brown has caught 315 passes for 3,588 yards and 21 touchdowns. Goff, on the other hand, has been the steady presence leading the way. Though he missed three games during the 2021 season, he’s started every game each of the last two seasons and is playing at an elite level.

Detroit still in contact with Josh Reynolds

Little has been reported about wide receiver Josh Reynolds’ future with the Lions’ organization. The free agent recently visited Baltimore but has yet to land with an organization.

On Tuesday, Campbell explained that the Lions are still in touch with Reynolds. The veteran was a key part of their passing attack in 2024, catching 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns.

Detroit has already re-signed wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, who came to the team in a trade deadline deal but had just five catches in eight regular season games for the Lions.

While Reynolds has been a vital part of the offense, questions about his future deal with aforementioned extensions to St. Brown and Goff that would deliver a hit to the team’s cap space.

The wide receiver position is one the Lions could target in the Draft, as the organization specifically lacks a true ‘X’ receiver. While St. Brown mans the slot and Jameson Williams has game-changing speed, neither have the typical frame of an X receiver who can win in contested catch situations.
