TAMPA, Florida — TAMPA, Florida (AP) – Authorities in Florida requested clues on Wednesday in an attempt to locate Detroit Lions defensive back Cameron Sutton, who is sought on a domestic violence warrant.

On the social networking site X, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, which covers Tampa, stated that the warrant was issued for domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony with a maximum five-year prison sentence. According to the sheriff’s office, Sutton might be operating a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a Florida license plate.

According to Phil Martello, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, the department responded to a call regarding domestic violence in progress between Sutton, 29, and a female around five in the morning on March 7. This was reported by the Detroit Free Press.

The warrant was issued by authorities.

It was unclear if Sutton has legal representation. David Canter, Sutton’s agent, did not respond right away to an email or text message. Additionally, a voicemail on a phone that officials claimed belonged to Sutton was left.

Although the sheriff’s department’s warrant was largely obscured, it did identify a house he owned in Dunedin, Florida, which is located along the Gulf Coast, and property records identify him as the owner.

A little over a year ago, the Lions signed Sutton to a three-year, $33 million contract, seeing him as a crucial player to add in the offseason. In addition to two postseason games, he assisted the team in winning a division title for the first time in three decades.
