sad news: justine jefferson has be fired…

Nick Sirianni’s position has become more heated as a result of the Eagles’ moves as offensive and defensive coordinator, which demonstrate how rapidly job security can vanish in the NFL. However, the Eagles are not replacing each coordinator. Special teams coordinator Michael Clay will be extended, as reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Entering his fourth season as the Eagles’ ST coordinator, Clay has been extended for the second year in a row. Clay, who is only 32 years old, has been an NFL special teams coach since 2015. He spent five years as the 49ers’ assistant ST coach. However, Clay made his NFL debut with the Eagles before joining Chip Kelly’s staff in 2014. In special teams, the Eagles shot up to 10th place in Rick Gosselin’s yearly rankings.

Deshea Townsend, who was fired by the Jaguars last month as their defensive pass-game coordinator, has another position lined up. The former NFL cornerback is joining the Lions in the same role, according to a tweet from Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. Townsend, who played for the Steelers for 12 years and won two Super Bowls, has been coaching since retiring in 2011. Townsend coached defensive backs for the Bears, Giants, Titans, and Cardinals before spending two years in Jacksonville. DBs coach Brian Duker was recently traded by the Lions to the Dolphins.
Mike Pettine will play a more defined role in Minnesota this season after serving as the senior defensive assistant for the Vikings for the previous two years. The former Browns head coach and seasoned defensive end will lead the Vikings’ outside linebackers in 2024, the team announced.
